Madeline Eversoll at Uni Otago |
As an environmental science major and meteorological/atmospheric science minor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Madeline Eversoll was able to delve deeper into the effects of environmental and biological issues while studying abroad in New Zealand.
Eversoll is an alumna of GlobaLinks Learning Abroad’s Challenge New Zealand: Leadership Development program.
She decided to return to New Zealand this semester to study abroad at the University of Otago in Dunedin, which gave her an opportunity to make academic discoveries directly aligned with her major.
“Going oversees has provided me an opportunity to go outside my boundaries and really explore a country that is unfamiliar to me,” Eversoll said.
“I became really interested in how melanoma can relate to UV radiations and thought New Zealand would be unique since they have a thin ozone layer. The discoveries I made during my time in New Zealand were very beneficial and allowed me to meet several scientists over there with great insights in regards to environmental health.”
